Join AARP Allready

Join the AARP All ready
Membership in the AARP which used to stand for American Association of Retired Persons for many people is a milestone and something they can't wait to do for the different benefits that being a member allows them to share in. Benefits such as travel and hotel discounts, insurance discounts and many others.
For others joining AARP is basically saying to the world hey I've  gotten older, when in fact just another year has past, you shouldn't think that way. Just think of it as another way to show a card and save a little money. Just like you use that cash back credit card at the store to save a couple percent and it's just good budgeting, so is joining the AARP for the different benefits it offers.
Benefits of Joining AARP
There are many benefits of joining the AARP. There are the ones I mentioned above the travel and hotel discounts. Then there are many restaurants that give you a discount just for flashing that card again just like your cash back credit card. Not to mention rental cars. Then there are professional services that AARP provides either as a benefit of joining or that are simply discounted. AARP has contracts with lawyers and accountants to provide services at a highly discounted rate. They also have investment professionals to help you with your investment choices. Or a discount for mail order prescription services and AARP health insurance.
Membership Requirements
In order to join AARP you must be 50 years old. You don't need to be retired as most people think. That is not the case. These days many retirees continue working in one form or another. So it's that simple you need to basically be 50 years old and you meet the criteria to join the club. There are no other tests to pass it's kinda like being a kid again you must be this tall to ride, that's it. That simple and easy.
How to Apply to AARP
Go to the AARP website at www.aarp.org on the top grey bar in the second box from the left click on the JOIN box. Then fill out the boxes on the next page with your name, birth date, and address. Then do the same for your spouse. Why put your spouses information in the application? Simple when you join your spouse gets a free membership. Pretty good right a two for one deal. Then go to the bottom of the page and choose how long of a membership you would like to pay for. The different choices are 5 years for 63 dollars, 3 years for 43 dollars or 1year for 16 dollars. The best deal by far is the five year deal but if you just want to try it out for one year to see what you think that might be the way to go. I think you will be happy that you joined AARP.

Boomer Retire

As I look at all the Baby Boomers around me in my family and the fact that they are all coming to the age of retirement. One of their biggest concerns is how will they be able to retire. The fact that maybe their 401k's and home values if there are any home values  and other investments haven't exactly held up to that little graph that the investment advisor showed them so many years ago. Doesn't help at all.  Then I see that so many of them are retiring but it's taken a different form than maybe the retirement of their parents it's not the sit on a rocking chair on the porch type of retirement. The Baby Boomers have always been as a group known to adapt to their situation and overcome the problems presented to them. So their retirements are more an active lifestyle with maybe a small amount of work or volunteering thrown in to keep yourself busy. So this blog is for all of those people who are coming to that baby boomer retirement and it will focus on things like additional sources of income, investments and real estate and  family issues after retirement.
This blog will also deal with things like health problems and where to live and how to take care of yourself, so you don't go from retirement to ending up in the hospital because isn't that all of our worst fear. I will also provide links to articles I find that I think that will be of interest to you and I think can help you in your Boomer Retirement. So Follow this blog at Boomer Retire
